Frontier Portrait: Leigh Koptish
In a sentence (or two), describe your role at Frontier.
I partner with leaders to create exceptional workplaces that will attract, grow, and retain top talent. As a talent strategist, I get excited about initiatives that identify and maximize leadership potential. Those are results that have a lasting impact.
Do you have a life motto?
Not a motto, but I really value grit. Grit comes easily to me in some places (like work) but is harder for me in other places (like exercise). I will think of this word to anchor myself and push harder when I feel like giving up.
How would people communicate in a perfect world?
Straight. I like to tell it like it is, but I also like to hear it like it is..
Where is your happy place?
I love the beach—any beach—but Bermuda is my favorite so far.
Your very first job was...
Working the salad bar at Western Sizzlin’.
What brought you to Frontier?
To work with (and learn from) really smart people while solving problems that business leaders face.
What motivates you to do your best work?
I love brainstorming and collaborating with other people to push ourselves to be more creative, while also being practical in how we solve problems.
Book smart or street smart?
What's a favorite project you’ve worked on and why?
Redesigning the leadership development strategy for a larger retail organization. I loved this work because the business need was clear and very challenging: to develop new leaders faster, better, smarter and in a sustainable, scalable way. While the goal was very clear, the path to take was unknown, complex, and pushed our creative problem solving to the next level. In the first year we had tangible results that we met our target of 'ready now' leaders while also reducing the development time by 50 percent.
